Buzz (Harvey) are flying with the horses and Stripes. Scuzz yells to
Buzz, "I told you to use my code name, Luke Buzzwalker!" [3]

Return of the King (LOTR)
(2003) -[1] There is
some dialogue between Lady Eowyn of Rohan and her dying uncle King Theoden

one of the nerds (Carradine) dresses as Darth Vader when making love with one

Rikki-O: The Story of
Ricky <Lai wong> (1991) -
A scene where Ricki
meets his uncle in a misty graveyard, Ricky (Fan Sui Wong) begs his uncle to

similar to that of Luke and Yoda in the swamp in The Empire Strikes Back.
(note: the movie is very gory - based on the Manga Rikki-O)
Road Trip (2000) -
<you'd have to be a true fan to get this one!> When
the main characters finally get down the Austin College in TX, they try to
intercept a package containing an incriminating tape. The dorm-mail guy
ignores them at first, while on the phone getting or giving a web address to
someone... "ok, that's www.blah.com/spoilers...".
Robocop 2 (1990) - A SW reference that
is very subtle. I realized that Dr. Faxx was using a modified form of a Jedi
Mind Trick.. she'd say a phrase, hit a few keys on a keyboard, and Robocop
would repeat it like a Mind Trick victim:
In the scene where Robocop's new directives were being uploaded, Dr. Faxx uses
a computer-assisted version of the Jedi Mind Trick. (Thanks
to John at Obroa-Skai for this reference!)
Robocop 3 (1993) -
At the end of the first chase scene
involving Ofc. Lewis ends in an accident... Victim: "What the hell
is this fellas, huh? You give a broad a
badge and she gets delusions of gander, huh?" Lewis: "It's 'grandeur', dumb----" (the edited version fills the blank in with the word 'jerk')
Robots (2005) -
[1] The voicebox in the Hardware Store (Jones) does a great impression of Darth Vader
;), "The Force is strong with this one" he says about Rodney
Copperbottom (McGregor), the face even changes to slightly resemble the dark
lord. [2] The battle between Madame
Gasket and Wonderbot is very similaar to a lightsaber battle. the
pipes make lightsaber-like noises and give off different colored sparks:
Gasket's red and Wonderbot's yellow. (Thanks to Chris
Brown!)
Rocco Bruce ( ) - This
silent western made by Ian Truitner
(Richard Roe). Several cowboys in a shootout against one man on a water
tower. The man jumps from the tower in order to face his final foe

squirters (very ESB) (it's been called Star Wars vs. the Pillsbury Doughboy)
Saturday the 14th
Strikes Back (1988)
Saturn 3 (1980) -
Note:
the first director on this film was John Barry, who worked on Star Wars, but
was fired early in production. The
opening shot of the ship mimics, even if unintentionally, that of ANH.
And the music is a cross between Star Wars and 2001's Also Sprach Zarachustra
(really not worthy of Bernstein).

better
story, better effects' Randy, ''Not a sequel, part of a trilogy,
completely planned' Hallie (Neal) jumps in, 'I like those
little furry things' Mickey (sarcastically interested) 'The

Carrie Fisher makes a cameo appearance as a twin who is an archivist for the

didn't sleep with George Lucas. Also, Return of the Jedi is taken as an example of the rules
when it comes to trilogies.
Scripture With No Words
<Mo Him Wong> (1996) - [1] The
film attempts (according to James Robert Parish who wrote Jet Li: A Biography)
the tongue-in-cheek flavor of the Indiana Jones adventure trilogy. [2]

sabers its Jedi Knights used)

portion of the DVD, David Dobkin mentions Star Wars several times. He
compares the relationship between Wang (Chan), Roy (Wilson) and Lin (Wong) to
that of Luke, Han and Leia. and [2]
the way in which Wu Chow (Yen) dies is reminiscent of the Death Star. [3]The
knighting ceremony at the end of Shanghai Knights is very close to the awards

I was a Star Wars kid". (Thanks to Sander
and Robert for this reference!)

Shrek 2 (2004) - [1]
The
prison that the gang is held in looks oh so similar to Jabba's Palace (?? This
one is questionable I couldn't see it but...) [2]
When Shrek, Donkey and Puss are in the potion room they set off an
alarm. They scramble to get out before the door closes on them (the door
drops down instead of closing with hinges, etc.). Shrek and Donkey are
first out and Puss trails slightly, his hat falls off as he leaves the room
and the door is nearly down to the floor. Puss quickly reaches his paw
in and grabs the hat just before the door closes, puts his hat on and slides
his paw around the front of the brim:

Silent But Deadly
Silent But Deadly 2
Silent But Deadly 3
(2004) - Fan
film. Plot as described by Jeff Ciolotti (director) The
story of
Silent But Deadly is quite simple. George Lucas decides he's had enough of
plot-revealing Star Wars fan Web sites. He dispatches his most crafty
enforcers, a pair of no-nonsense Imperial Stormtroopers (well, there's quite a
bit of nonsense actually), to eliminate the Webmasters of those sites. In
Silent But Deadly 2, the troopers are summoned from a seaside vacation to
neutralize the latest threat: a crazed fan who has gone on a rampage after
waiting in too many Star Wars lines. Silent But Deadly 3 combines characters
from the first two and concludes the trilogy in a grand fashion.

Simpson's Movie (2007) -
The film was shot under

- <many
reviews of this film included a comparison to Star Wars>
Thunder Magazine:
"The
free flow of ideas created 'The Blade' ('Six-String's' original title), a
mixture of The Wizard Of Oz, Wong Kar-Wai, Jackie Chan, John Woo, Lone Wolf
and Cub, 50's Rock n' Roll, The Road Warrior, Spaghetti Westerns and even Star
Wars."
New City:
"A
scissors-and-tape Sergio Leone-"Road Warrior"-"Wizard of
Oz"-"El Mariachi"- "Star Wars"-rock 'n'
roll-samurai-kung fu-comic book filled with willfully naive charm..."
Film Threat: "...Six-String
Samurai is pure cinematic enjoyment... Based on this powerful action film
debut, Lance Mungia should be directing Jeffrey Falcon as a Jedi knight in the
second Star Wars film prequel."

Skin Deep (1989) -

enters the room, it's still dark...then the husband puts on a glow-in-the-dark

Sky Captain and the

1138
appears on the door of mad scientist, Dr. Totenkopf (Olivier) [2]

"Permission granted to land on platform 327. Maintain your present
course" (word for word from ESB) after he lands, a group of soldiers
comes out to greet him. He is then reunited with his old buddy on the
platform. [4] The
relationship between Perkins and the Captain is similar to that of Marion and
Indy....true affection yet concealed by a shell of dislike for something that
happened in the past between the characters. There's also the whole map
overlay thing that's very Indy...and there is an "ark."

Something that looks like a TIE fighter is hanging from the

robots. (Thanks to Chris Brown for reference #5!)

[1] A
Jar-Jar type line 'Yousa tink people gonna die?' [2]
There's a scene with a General who talks just like Admiral Ackbar in Return of
the Jedi. [3] Cartman's
(Parker) v-chip runs amok and he can shoot lightning out of his fingertips
(referencing the Emperor ROTJ) at Saddam Hussein (Stone) (referencing
Luke...only in the situation...and not the personality)...as Satan (Parker)
just sits there helpless (like Vader). Then Satan picks Saddam, up over
his head, and throws him into a chasm.
Spaceballs (1987) -
[1]
Use of the Wilhelm Scream [2]
nearly the whole movie is a spoof of Star Wars
Space Banda (2001)
- A spoof on the Star Wars films. Latinos
have been segregated to another planet by the INF and the lead plays a coyote,
Durango (Azurdia) who gets people across planetary boundaries.
Princesses, cantinas and bounty hunters, oh my!
SpaceCamp (1986) -
a girl refers to the Space Shuttle as an X-wing and a little boy fantasizes
he's Luke Skywalker. One of the Space Shuttle robots is a droid.
...clarified...from the
script [1] (Boy’s
Dorm)
(Max is standing in front of a locker, refusing to move.) MAX: Who are
you, the Imperial
Guard, or
something? [2]
MAX: Why don’t you
evaporate laser brain?! GUY: (grabs Max) Yeah, I’ll give you a laser
brain. [3]
(Mock Cargo Area) ANDI: This is a mock up of the cargo bay and the
storage pallet. That arm is the remote manipulator system. It can be used for
repairs and to link up with satellites or other vehicles. This is the zero
gravity chair. It rides on a cushion of air and creates the feeling of
weightlessness you would encounter when you leave the Earth’s atmosphere.
Come on, Max. (They all enter the mock space shuttle.) MAX: Oh,
this is like the greatest thing since
that X-Wing fighter! [4] color="#50855E"
MAX: Distract and destroy the Imperial Guards. RUDY: (makes a tick-tock
sound) Got 10 seconds. KEVIN: All right! What would
Luke Skywalker
do? How would he get to the launch
pad? (Max goes over to his closet, and opens it to reveal Jinx.)
GUY: Kid’s gonna go for the droid. [5]
(Boys Dorm) (Kevin comes in and turns on the lights. Max is already
sitting up in bed looking very upset.) KEVIN: Who talked? MAX: It
wasn’t me Han Solo. Zack got information out of Jinx. KEVIN: Max!
I’m not Han Solo. Okay? And you’re not Luke
Skywalker. There’s no Empire
and there’s no Force and there’s no Dark Side. You’re just an ordinary
kid and so am I! And maybe nobody lives happily ever after, all right? So just
stay away from me. Far away. (he walks off) (Max sits there for a
moment, looking about ready to burst into tears, and then he runs out of the
room. Jinx follows him.) [6]
(Cargo
bay) MAX: Commander Skywalker, reporting in.[7]
CATHERINE: Max, you have to help Andi.
MAX: (outside) No. Let me in! Please let me in! KEVIN: (into headset as
Obi Wan Kenobi) Luke. (Max quiets) Luke? Use the force Luke. Stretch out your
feelings. The Force is always with you. (Max smiles) [8]
(Cargo Bay) (Max climbs into the chair and straps himself in. Rudy then
begins to swing him over to Datalis.) MAX: Help me Obi Wan Kenobi. Help
me. (suddenly the chair begins to waver and Max freaks) Whoa! Yo Rudy!
RUDY: (on headset) Sorry Max. Hang in there.
Space Mutiny (1988) All
the effects were literally taken from Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. One
of the selling quotes for this terrible film, "Breathtaking
Special
Effects From the Team That Brought You 'STAR WARS'"
Space Nuts (2003)
- "Adult film" parody. Buzz
Starfokker, Princess Hubba Hubba, Evil Trooper
Spanglish (2004) -
Paz Vega (Moreno) is learning how to speak
English using English Without Barriers (Inglés Sin Barreras) and she says
something like, "I really like the Star Wars trilogy by George
Lucas"
Spawn (1997) -
The relationship between Spawn (White) and Angela (Stepp)? is similar to
that of Luke and Yoda, Angela tries to teach Spawn how to use his special
abilities and Spawn says, 'Alright Yoda, just hold on a second.'
Special Effects: Anything
Can Happen (1996) - How could something about
special effects NOT include Star Wars!
Sphere (1998) - When
seeing the 'alien' spacecraft Dr. Ted Fielding (Schreiber) says over an
intercom, "Look at the size of that thing" (Thanks
to Sander for this reference!)
Spider-Man
(2002) - [1] Use of the Wilhelm Scream
[2] The lines
"Join Me" and "Impressive" uttered by the Green Goblin (Dafoe)
Spies Like Us
(1985) - "So
how much did this Star Wars system cost?"
Spongebob
Squarepants: The Movie (2004) - The sound of a
TIE fighter can be heard near the end of the wasteland sequence.
Spy Kids (2001) - Juni
(Sabara) has a mini-lightsaber as one of his gadgets.
Stay Tuned (1992) -
Roy Knable's (Ritter) going to be be-headed (one of the shows on the 'TV' is
about the French Revolution) He says to the executioners, 'Hi, fellas. I
loved you in Star Wars'
Starchaser: the Legend of Orin (1985)
- I caught this one on my DVR one night and
finally got to watch it. It has many thematic elements in common with Star
Wars. Here are some things I noticed:
- Orin finds a sword with no hit. In moments of crisis, he swings the hilt and a blue blade of energy can be seen. - The main characters of the "good guys" include: a naive working boy from a backwater planet (Orin), a roguish pirate (Dagg), the daughter of a planetary leader (Aviana), a humanoid robot (Silica), and a smart-alec navigator automaton usually paired with a ship (Arthur). The main "bad guy" is more machine than man (Zygon). - The Starchaser (Dagg's ship) and several of the fighters use sounds of vehicles from the Star Wars trilogy (most noticeable is the sound of Luke's landspeeder as the Starchaser makes low-altitude flybys) - Several scenes mirror some from the classic Star Wars trilogy: The main bad guy gets his hand cut off in the final battle. The pirate's ship escapes an explosion by flying out of a vent shaft. The pirate's ship gets caught in an energy beam. The main female lead wears white and has a valet robot. The ghosts of previous generations of heroes appear at the final celebration of freedom. The bad guys put a bounty on the crew of the pirate's ship. - Reverse references (Star Wars Ep1-3 trilogy, Special Edition OT): The main bad guy gets cut in half by an energy blade. The bad guy gets pushed into molten lava. The main viewport of the enemy's flagship gets destroyed while the good guys are on the bridge. The main female lead's white outfit is form-fitting. The valet robot fires a weapon at other robots. The main female lead goes to the slums in disguise. After the fall of the evil dictatorship, the celebrants exclaim "We're free!". The evil armies consist of thousands of robots. The good guys neutralize the evil armies by accident. One of the robotic characters wakes up and complains about being "naked". The good guys run into a corridor with hundreds of evil soldiers. Starcrash<Adventures of Stella Star>(1979) - This movie not only took elements from Star Wars, it seems that other elements were borrowed for Episodes V and VI. [1] The most obvious references seem to be Count Zarth Arn (Vader in looks, Dr. Doom in dialogue), and while the name is ever so similar to "Darth" the character was actually named after Zarth Arn from Edmond Hamilton's Star Kings (Amazing Stories) and [2] the lightsaber duel. [3] Note the second photo shows the "good" Emperor of the Galaxy (Plummer) appearing in holographic form (which seems to be a reverse reference for ESB) and the evil Count Zarth Arn (Spinell), who has a mysterious super weapon, to the left and on the posters (Vader-esque mask) [4] The first poster had too many similarities to ANH's posters and [5] the second seemed to be more along the lines of Battlestar Galactica even though you can see the "lightsaber" there:

line, "I hope this star buggy hold together!"

director) [3] on the Bonus disc Star Wars is mentioned again in how Star Trek
came to fruition on the big screen. In 1977, after the fervor of Star
